Dr Ioannis A. Dimitropoulos
MD, MSc, PGDip, FRCPCH(UK) | Developmental Paediatrician
I am a Paediatrician specialising in Developmental and Community Paediatrics. I work with children and families facing developmental and learning difficulties, neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism and ADHD, as well as more complex needs, including genetic syndromes and multiple disabilities. My approach is guided by the belief that every child has unique strengths and deserves to be understood as an individual. I work closely with families and other professionals to develop personalised and realistic support plans, providing the guidance and tools needed to help each child progress with confidence and achieve their full potential.
Short Biography
I graduated from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and completed a Master's degree in Clinical Paediatrics and Research at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
After completing my Paediatric training in Greece, I undertook three years of postgraduate training in Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics, Neurodisability and Community Paediatrics in the United Kingdom, gaining extensive experience in the assessment and support of children and young people with complex neurodevelopmental conditions.
I also hold the Paediatric Neurodisability Diploma from Sheffield Children's Hospital, accredited by the British Academy of Childhood Disability.
I have worked in leading specialist children's services across London, including Barts Health NHS Trust, Evelina London Children's Hospital and East London NHS Foundation Trust, contributing to multidisciplinary assessment and support for children and families.
As a Consultant within the Newham Child Development Service, I led the Developmental Assessment Clinic and served as the medical lead for the multidisciplinary team responsible for diagnostic assessments of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
I have also collaborated with the North Thames Genomic Medicine Service Alliance, hosted by Great Ormond Street Hospital, contributing to the development of genomic services for children with complex neurodevelopmental conditions across East London.
In addition, I collaborate with Autism Clinic London, a specialist service focusing on the diagnostic assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Throughout my career, I have worked with culturally diverse and vulnerable populations, with a particular interest in child public health, safeguarding and early intervention.
